Mt. Fuji Through the Window. A Vanlife Road Trip in a Kei Camper — Real Reviews
There's one photo that keeps appearing in Carstay's review pages: Mt. Fuji, perfectly framed through a campervan window, shot from inside a sleeping bag at dawn. It's not staged — it's what happens when you park at Kawaguchiko the night before and wake up before the tour buses arrive.
A kei camper makes this possible in a way no hotel can. You park, you sleep, you open your eyes to the view. No alarm, no checkout time, no crowds yet.
Here are 3 real reviews from travelers who rented a kei camper on Carstay and drove to Mt. Fuji — one vehicle each.

03. ESCAPADE No.3 — Waking Up to Fuji at Dawn
This van was incredibly well suited for a roadtrip around Japan. The interior is cozy, comfortable, and the lighting set up made evenings really lovely when chilling inside the van. It is a reliable vehicle and we had no issues whatsoever. The battery pack was incredibly useful as we used it to power our portable electric cooker, any camera batteries we needed to charge, and the heater in the evenings when it got cold. The blackout window covers also allowed us to sleep peacefully in a dark space, uninterrupted by the lights on at whatever rest stop we were parked at. We absolutely loved this van and couldn't recommend it enough for any other travellers.
Who this is for: Photographers and anyone chasing that dawn shot of Fuji. The large battery pack and blackout window covers are what set this van apart.

All three travelers said they'd rent again — and it's easy to see why. A kei camper gives you the kind of access to Mt. Fuji that no hotel or tour bus can: park where you want, stay as long as you like, and wake up to the view before anyone else arrives.
