If renting from Gifu, it takes about 2-3 hours to Kyoto via the Meishin Expressway, about 2.5-4.5 hours to Toyama/Kanazawa via the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, and about 2.5-4 hours to Matsumoto via the Chuo Expressway from central Gifu City. Hirugano Kogen Service Area is convenient. Hida Takayama, Shirakawa-go, and Gero Onsen are classics within the prefecture, and trips extending to the Hokuriku coast are also popular.
